The gap
Where courses stop
Safety training teaches you not to hurt anyone. It does not teach you to read a face, name the condition, choose the right device, or hold a client through a plan they will actually finish. Most training ends at the sign-off. That is where the job starts.
Signed off, not skilled
A folder of compliance is not the same as knowing what to do when the skin in front of you does not match the textbook.
Devices without diagnosis
Operators are taught settings before they are taught to see. Diagnosis is where a real treatment plan actually begins.

In-clinic training runs at SDL Australia’s Macquarie Centre clinic in Sydney. You diagnose real skin on VISIA imaging, learn the SDL Consultation Method, and log supervised hands-on hours on a live clinic floor. Dermal only. Skin, not hair.

The format
How training runs
Built so a practitioner in Perth can train to the same standard as one in Parramatta. Three to five days in clinic across two weeks on the Practitioner Pathway, one to two days for master classes.

Short in-clinic blocks at Macquarie Centre. Supervised hands-on hours on the clinic floor, across the full device fleet.

Graduate Assessed
Assessed by a TAE-qualified trainer, with your evidence logged and countersigned for recognition if licensing arrives in NSW and VIC.

The SDLA Laser Practitioner Pathway
Laser safety sign-off, VISIA diagnosis, the SDL Consultation Method, skin conditions, and supervised hands-on hours inside a working clinic. You finish able to diagnose, treat and build a staged pathway, not just operate a device.

Acne laser
AviClear
A laser that targets the sebaceous glands driving acne, treating the cause rather than the surface, over a course of three sessions with results developing across the months that follow.
What you learn
Patient selection and expectation-setting, managing the months-long response curve and the purge, objection handling, and building the acne pathway.
Skin imaging
VISIA
A diagnostic camera system that photographs what the eye cannot see: pigment sitting under the surface, blood vessels, pores, UV damage. Not a laser. It is where every treatment starts.
What you learn
Read a VISIA scan, identify the true condition, build an evidence-based plan, and track proof of results over time.
Pico laser
enlighten III
An ultra-fast laser firing in picoseconds. It shatters pigment into tiny particles the body clears naturally, with minimal heat, which makes it safer on darker skin.
What you learn
Safe pico treatment across all skin tones up to Fitzpatrick VI, pigment protocols, PIH management, and acne scar revision.
Vascular & pigment laser
excel V+
The gold-standard laser for redness and visible vessels, with two wavelengths: one for vascular and surface pigment, one deep and safe for darker skin. Its Genesis modes deliver the no-downtime glow treatments.
What you learn
Vascular treatment and endpoint recognition, Laser and Green Genesis protocols, safe deep-wavelength work, and combining it with the rest of the fleet.
Secret RF and Secret DUO join the academy in 2027, completing the condition stack.

Neither state currently operates a laser licensing scheme. SDLA is built to the strictest standards in the country, assessed by a TAE-qualified trainer, with logged evidence designed for recognition if licensing arrives.
Yes. Every program runs through an online portal with short in-clinic blocks, so a practitioner in Perth trains to the same standard as one in Parramatta.
That depends what you want from it. A certificate alone rarely changes what you earn. Being able to diagnose, plan and hold a client through a pathway does.
